چکیده

The uncontrolled spread of the subspecies A. m. carnica, ligustica, and caucasica has led to a reduction in areas pure "dark forest bees" populations belonging mellifera their natural habitats within Ukraine. Due need use dark bees breeding, it became necessary identify locations individual subspecies.
purpose work is create an accessible at same time complete methodology for classifying bee wing phenotypes, which would make possible determine probable breed worker bees, type degree hybridization main with impurities, "purebred" families by phenotype suitable further breeding.
Material methods research: Using discriminant analysis data, first stage study, 1500 wings were classified using 8 features: Ci, Dbi, Disc.sh, Pci, Ri, Сі.3, Сі.2, Сi.2.1, there was preliminary information about or its hybrids. At second stage, additional 1212 colonies studied, doubts breed.
Results research discussion: are reliably divided into four clusters, indicating presence sufficiently distinct groups among studied terms phenotype.
Conclusions prospects A classification model been created that allows effective discrimination working Ukraine, mellifera. Phenotypic values indices Polissia micro-populations used as reference standards detection, have established, can serve future research. Four found, whose queens produce population, three macedonica hybrid be selection

Resonance frequencies of honeybee (Apis mellifera) wings.

During flight, insect wings bend and twist under the influence of aerodynamic and inertial forces. We tested whether wing resonance of honeybees (Apis mellifera) matches the wingbeat frequency, against the 'stiff element' hypothesis that the wing's first longitudinal mode exceeds the wingbeat frequency. Six bees were immobilized with their right wing pair outspread, and stimulated with a shaker...

Regulation of life history determines lifespan of worker honey bees (Apis mellifera L.).

Life expectancy of honey bees (Apis mellifera L.) is of general interest to gerontological research because its variability among different groups of bees is one of the most striking cases of natural plasticity of aging. Worker honey bees spend their first days of adult life working in the nest, then transition to foraging and die between 4 and 8 weeks of age. Foraging is believed to be primari...

Sucrose responsiveness and behaviour in honey bees (Apis mellifera L.)

The foraging behaviour of honey bees, Apis mellifera: a review

Foraging behaviour is one of the distinctive behaviours of honey bees, Apis mellifera. This behaviour is the link between the honey bee colony and the ambient environment. Therefore, various in-colony and out-colony factors have an impact on this behaviour, and many studies have been employed to investigate these factors. Foraging behaviour is not advantageous only for the colony and for plant ...

The ontogenetic pattern of mandibular gland components in queenless worker bees (Apis mellifera capensis Esch.).

The quantity and composition of the six major mandibular gland components of young queenless workers of the Cape honeybee (Apis mellifera capensis) were determined. The total amount of the six components increased with age. The relative quantities in the mandibular gland secretion of queenless caged workers were found to change rapidly during the first 4 days after emergence and to become domin...
